An introduction.

My name is Gemma and I am the owner of Little Gem Moments. 

Formed towards the end of 2018, my idea for the business grew from making my boys a filled Christmas Eve Box.  I sourced all the items, made it up and showed family and friends.  Soon, I had people asking "Where can I buy this?" and "How much do you charge?"  I realised quite quickly that I could sell them, that demand was there.  I'd long been a private seller, on websites like eBay, of outgrown clothes and toys that sat gathering dust.  If I could do that, why couldn't I sell things that are new, that I've made or that I've sourced?

Disability and being a mother to 3 beautiful boys have left me unable to work a 9-5 in a job my degree qualifies me for, and I am okay with computers, the internet and selling things online.  So, why not?

Off I went with a couple of hundred pound I'd borrowed from my mum and I bought some supplies.  I roped my family in to helping and soon we'd made a lot of Christmas Eve Boxes, ready to sell. Having never worked in business before, yes, mistakes were made.  I could have made money, by sourcing things wholesale and buying in bulk.  I could have advertised and sold a lot more.  I could have had things up and running sooner.  But, my goodness, it was exciting.  For the first time in a long time I felt like I’d achieved something.  I'd done something, made something, and people liked it, and people bought it.  

But then Christmas was over.  And believe it or not, there's not much demand for Christmas Eve boxes in January, or any month of the year not beginning with D.

People were asking "what now?" And I didn't know.  What I did know is that I loved making people happy. It wasn't about making money, it was about making people happy.  I always found much more enjoyment in giving gifts, rather than receiving them.  Then it hit me. Gifts.  There are more people like me, right? Everyone always has a birthday party, or wedding to attend.  Or a celebration, or baby shower, or leaving party.  There's always an occasion where gifts are required. 

It's a passion of mine.  I'd spend hours online, scrolling through pages and pages of items, looking for the perfect gift.  So, I spent the last few months learning everything I could and then I decided to create a website, dedicated to all your gift buying needs. 

Everything you see on the site has been hand-picked and carefully chosen.  I would never expect people to buy something that I wouldn’t buy myself.  There's something for everyone on littlegemmoments.co.uk. And I am constantly on the lookout for more products that I think our buyers, and the gift receivers, will love! 

As with any small business just starting out, we rely heavily on word of mouth! So, if you like our product, tell your friends and family and share on social media.  It really does mean the world.
